31 Days of Halloween Day 19: Holy Land USA

Only 12 days until Halloween!

Throughout the month of October I’ll be posting once a day with something to get you into the Halloween spirit, including movie and book reviews, real haunted places, occult topics and more. Come back each day and join in the fun!

Sometimes places are abandoned and nature takes them back, like the biblical theme park known as Holy Land USA. Now the rotting remains of the religious attraction sits on Pine Hill in Waterbury, Connecticut. It might seem like something out of a Scooby Doo episode, but the old theme park is said to be quite haunted.

Back in the 1950s, John Baptist Greco created Holy Land USA as a place for believers to gather. They could see what life would have been like back in biblical times and learned more about scripture in immersive experiences. By the 1980s the park was in bad shape, closing down and becoming a favorite spot for local teenagers to vandalize.

Different paranormal investigators claim to have collected evidence that spirits other than the Holy Ghost are roaming around the park. Some have reported feeling watched yet not threatened while roaming around, while others said they picked up on malicious entities that have made the location home. Many were puzzled at such claims of paranormal activity, because there hadn’t been a death recorded at the theme park when it was in operation. Then in 2010 a missing sixteen year-old girl was found murdered in the ruins. That fact has many speculating that negative energies in the area should be more significant, which would make any haunting worse.

Would you visit an abandoned theme park?

Have you ever been to Holy Land USA?
